"No more razor/wax bumps!"

For those of you who have suffered from ingrowns and razor bumps, I have to recommend a product I have been using for the last month or so. It's called PFB vanish. I had tried the bikini zone, tend skin, and myriad other "solutions." Hate to sound like an infomercial, but nothing has worked as wonderfully as PFB vanish.

Here's the web address:

A woman I know who offers waxing here in SF says that ingrown hairs are often due to not exfoliating in the weeks before waxing... she has a whole instruction page on how to prep for waxing and avoiding the bumps and ingrown problem. I am not sure if she is okay with me reposting it, but I will check and see. If not, I can paraphrase it.

Laser hair removal is the final solution to those problems. Costly but the payoff is in the long run. A great investment

I had laser hair removal on my bikini/underarms. I'm happy with it overall, but you do have to exfoliate (very gently) after the first few treatments or you may get some ingrowns. I did.

Some of the hair did grow back, but most of it is gone. It did also leave a couple of marks where the pigment of my skin changed. Something to be aware of...

Would I do it again? Yes. I'm even thinking about going in again with the newer lasers to try and get some of the leftovers I'd love to get my legs done too. Maybe in time...

I haven't tried this yet, but heard it works great:

solution 1:
18 tablets uncoated aspirin, crushed
5 oz. rubbing alcohol
combine.

solution 2:
8 tablets uncoated aspirin, crushed
2.5 oz. witch hazel
combine.

combine the two solutions. the aspirin will settle a bit, so shake it before use. apply to the bikini area to prevent ingrowns. it can also be used to spot treat blemishes. (aspirin is acetic and salicylic acids.)

another trick that works wonders for the bikini line to prevent ingrowns is unscented roll on deodorant.

I went in for a brazilian facial the other day at Bella Pelle, and having used the Chiara Tonic II solution they sell (a salicylic and glycolic acid-based product used for oil-control, exfoliation, and/or peel preparation) for a couple months, I had no ingrown hairs whatsoever. I've used a variety of products, and this seems to be one of the better ones for sure!

I don't wax or shave the "business area" - I stick to VEET.
That stuff is AWESOME!
Don't leave it on too long though, it'll burn the hell out of your coochie!
The first time I used VEET, I ended up slathered in Vagisil (to numb the pain) for two days after my debaucle and couldn't work.
OUCH.
xoxo Summer

When shaving, always use a sharp blade, shave but never re-trace, or double stroke over.

Dry off completely, then take ANTIPERSPIRANT,not Deodorant, solid stick, goes on clear.
Slow, even strokes, don't re-trace, same method you shaved with.
Shave & Shine. Degree Solid is the best to use.Plus it keeps the sweat to a minium. No hair, wheres that sweat going? Back into Your newly shaved folical, clogging the new sprouts growth, thus infected and ingrown.

I had that happened to me before. I shaved down below, and then a couple times, I started noticing like in grown hairs below. I got a little worried because they were eveywhere, so I went to the doctor just to get checked up, and when my doc told me, this is nothing unusual, she has seen a lot of pple like this, that it's ingrown hairs, that's it. I was relieved but I will not shave from this day. I won't even get a brazillian wax.. I'll just trim with a man's bierd trimmer..

I cant stand ingrown hairs that get infectd and turn into Boils. UGH!!!! some people are more proned to ingrowns and Boils. I am one of those. So let me tell ya, I have some answers. First, like Athena says, use a beard trimmer. Otherwise always exfoliate before the shave. Shave downwards. saturate Astrigent, Witch Hazel, Alcohol or the Original Listerine on a cotton ball and dab everywhere. The burn should feel so good.I like that feeling. I dont know why. Then do what they call sugaring on the shaved area. the hair will grow back with much thinner appearance after this is done a few times. But on the real, Ladies if you ever get a boil. Use draw out salve and that shit will have you wannting to make love to it. It will be your best friend if you are prone to boils.

I once had a boil between my legs, big as a goose egg it was FKN gross. I wanted to add that rubbing alchol right after shaving burns like hell, but breaks the skin over the hair and prevents red bumps, irritation and embarrassment. If the heat is getting to u this works for that too. Use unscented lotion after it dries

Thanks so mucho for posting this Nicole. Great topic! And thanks for all your answers ladies. Hmmmm...I think I will start with the Veet, and then try the rubbing alcohol. I have already found that exfoliating helps. I've also had some laser, but it's sooo expensive! Anyone know of any places that have good deals on laser hair removal? MIA:)

I am completely incapable of shaving anywhere near my bikini line without horrible skin irritation. One summer, I had a horrible case of foliculitis and had to be on antibiotics as well as antibiotic powder to clear it up. Even more horrifying, the doctor insisted on testing for diabetes and herpes because of the infection. Fortunately, I was healthy but I learned my lesson.

I finally got the courage to ask about the brazilian wax as with my age, hair was growing so far inside my lips and around my ass that I felt like a beast! She provided me with an exfoliate scrub to use daily and an after gel that prohibits skin irritation, rashes and ingrown hairs. I go to European Wax Salon at the Fountains in Roseville and I have been THRILLED with the results!

Absolutely NO skin irritation, itching, burning, bumps, nada. It's a once a month procedure costing $45. The hair growth is nominal and so much softer. NO RAZOR STUBBLE.

I highly recommend waxing. It has been a wonderful addition to my life and I'm just sorry now that I let fear keep me from trying it much much sooner.

If you're in my area and are interested, inbox me for details about the salon and products.

xoxo

I agree with you Ray....waxing is the best stuff ever! My girl uses a hard wax for my sensative area and one rip and no need to go back for a 2nd try or plucking whatsoever.

I exfoliate 24 hours later for about a week and a few days before my appointment to keep the ingrowns away!

xoxo

A guy told me to use rubbing alchol right after every shave, it works great too, even works on heat bumps. I doubt it works as well as your product, but most everyone has it in their bathroom.
