"Is it Slow or Me?"
 
   It has been soooooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwww for me the last few weeks! Is it me or has everyone else been experiencing this?

   Hi Krissy,

It is slow for me also. It was not slow last year but I reentered the adult service industry so was considered "new" to this area and received decent response. I live and work in the rural part of the Poconos. In the years past it was slow during this time (almost went homeless twice during the end of summer to beginning of fall 2003 to 2005).

People also say it is the economy. I do not believe it for here BUT there is a massive amount of foreclosures in Monroe County Pennsylvania. The high foreclosure rate comes from pushing unprepared NYers into the fantasy of homeownership. These people would probably not be reasonable clients for my business. This is also a big tourist type spot (will not go to casinos or resorts due to possible trespass charges). These are members only type places.

You need to look at your area in this regard. Keep in mind this is August and it is right before school. Also families spend vacation time during this month. Most businesses are also slower and people take vacations at this time.

I believe, for me, business will pick up at the end of September until January (after that it is cold here AND TAX TIME). I live in a somewhat seasonal type place.

My only advice is try to work with your regulars more during slow periods. AND, you should keep advertising.

Sorry to hear that.

I always plan a vacation during the summer and during the Christmas holiday because it is the slowest time of year besides tax time. I am just returning from a 6 week off period. I love my summer time off. It makes me more motivated the rest of the year. I plan ahead and use the slow time for MY TIME and then come back refreshed in mind and spirit.

Sometimes its up to us to change our own luck... Or at least try to increase the odds of good luck .

   No, Krissy, you are not alone, not at all. I think part of it if you are here in SF is the weather - I mean the sun hasn't shown itself in weeks, It's probably the economy to some extent, but I think that it's got to be something else, I'm sure it will pick up soon, it was slow this time of year last year too - not like this bad exactly, but it was slow. You just never know - it might pick up tomorrow.

I like how you think Miss Latina Lover! I always take mini breaks away from the "biz"
and I always feel way more refreshed and ready to go when I return.I find for me
personally when I advertise,the more available I make myself,the less calls
I get,if I have lesser availability listed,I get more business. Who'da thunk?


Often enough, I see girls,listing their schedule,pretty much all hours and every day,I
know that they probably aren't really all that busy,but their ads make it seem like
they are available 24/7,and maybe it turns some guys off? I dunno.I do know,
when I'm not ready available as often,the "regulars" sure do appreciate you when
they do *finally* see you.

It has been slow for me too. Havent been able to stack like usual. Not sure why, but it has been extremely slow, but some days I do get Lucky. Hope it picks up for us all. We have bills we have to pay.

When it is not as busy as you would like:
Take a few snapshots and post them,
Keep your ad updated,
Keep in touch with your regulars and treat them like kings..
Make sure you are available and ready for last minute requests.

Thanks to all the ladies who posted on this thread all these observations and practical ideas. It's good to hear from everybody.

I looked through my notes and found that, through the last 9 years, June and July were some busy money-making months for me. But just this year, June and July were terribly slow. Now August has picked up and I'm getting lots of calls, lots of new clients and also regulars coming over.

It's been a cold summer without a lot of sunshine up here, and I think that does make a difference. The weather has just started to warm up a little. Other than that I don't know how to account for it.

When it's slow is a good time to take off, cut the self some slack and take it to a little vacation.

It is part of the business to be slow sometimes. You always need to prepare for it when you are busy. Put money away for slow times than you will not be so stressed out. I know it is easier said than done. Yes it does help to step up and get new pics sometimes. Also taking last minute appointment but be careful of those. They want to come on the last minute sometimes so you can not check them out properly. SO LADIES DO NOT TAKE ANY CHANCES JUST BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE MONEY. DOING DESPERATE THINGS CAN LAND YOU IN JAIL , HURT OR EVEN KILLED. I know when i have made these mistakes when i was young and did not think because i needed the money. Most of the time it landed me in jail and some close calls. So do what you have to do to cut cost buts do not take chances.

There is nothing we can do about girls under charging. People are hungry right now. Blaming it on that is wrong. People are still getting paid well. It is not anyones else'e problem that a lot of women do not manage there money wisely. There where time that girl made a lot of money but spent all there money. Yes why not do 10 because you spent all your money because you thought it was going to be forever. It is bad times now so do not judge. Of course that is not just the working girls it is everywhere people thought that it would be forever. That is why the economy is the way it is. It is funny because people are losing there houses but they can stand in line to buy the next Iphone lol,

   I found the month of August last year(2009) to be almost dead in San Francisco. My girlfriend who has many regulars kept calling her own phone to see if it was still working.LOL. I think everyone puts their summer vacay of until the last minute and then there is childrens back to school supplies and clothing. Who knows but it seems to be normal for SF.

Same thing here always August & December.... So last year I took August and December off.

Lucky for me my birthday is August 27th so taking the last week of august slow isnt so bad for me. Although I have to admit, I tend to work on my birthday alot because I dont want to be alone. I would rather be with clients than thinking about being alone. When I have worked on my birthday, I have had extremely good luck! When you tell clients its your birthday you get gifts like wine, pizza and even got a bracelet one year working in Campbell!

   So many girls have the same way of thinking in this business .its okay i can spend this money i made today because i will make it back tomorrow ,not.That is not a good habit to adopt .By the way not saying this is you.

I would suggest when you are busy ,save your money and dont splurge you should still have the same spending habits as when you had a normal job because at the end of the day this is a job also and anything can happen you get sick ,its slow at least you have money set aside so you dont freak out and almost lose everything you have .

Yes, that's what you have to do. I hope we all are remembering to build up some savings. Me too.

If you aren't saving anything, pretty soon it will happen that you have to say Yes to somebody or something you would rather say No to, because you need the money all of a sudden. That's the way to take the joy out of the job, and clients can tell the difference if you are not enjoying yourself, and it starts to lower you after awhile.

I wish I'd started saving earlier. I was a clothes nut and now I have thousands of dollars hanging in my closet and a fat lot of good it does me. That money would look really good in my bank account right now.

   Happy birthday lady, mines is the 28th and i agree with what you said august and september being slower months. But for the most part i can't complain cause im still eating but august for sure is back to school and ending vacation month. thisa biz is up and down a few years ago it was rolling non stop but the economy is crazy now so its very up and down these days..

A good client of mine told me to save 10% of what I make everytime I work, its not enough to miss but enough to make a difference, I mean come on ladies its not like were getting taxes taken out sheesh.

Look at it this way, you would never have had this income in the first place and even if you only see 2 people a day that has to be at the very least 300 bucks well put 30 away jeez is it that hard you prob would of spent that on fast food or some dumb stuff anyways.

Work 2days a week saving 60bucks a week times 4 well my dears that is 240 a month you just have saved. Keep doing it and wallah you will no longer feel the pinch as long as you keep it up.

Its not hard and well its not hard. Come on ladies get your money to work for you instead of working for your money!
